What I Do:
All sorts of things!! I am one of those people that has to try everything, since I have an insatiable curiosity about life. Professionally, I am in the high-tech industry, and I do new product conception, design and development.
When I am not coming up with new ideas and creating things (I continually come up with new business ideas for all sorts of endeavors), I have a variety of hobbies and sports in which I partake. First and foremost among them is shipwreck exploration. I especially like diving the deep wrecks that no one (or very few people) have ever been on before. I do this exploration in the North Atlantic off New Jersey and New York, in the Northern Gulf of Mexico off the Florida Panhandle, and in the Carribean off Grenada!
I also love skiing deep powder in the Colorado Rockies (Crested Butte and the Vail back bowls are my favorites), downhill ski racing (which I used to do a lot), horses (which I used to do a lot, but haven't had time to do in quite a while), and working out in the gym.
Intellectually, I'm really into finance and investing. I belong to a private, worldwide Internet finance discussion group, the Gurus. In the past we were profiled in Smart Money and Fast Company magazines. Our member list (we have about 30 people) is quite impressive! We get together every year or two and meet face to face, in places such as San Francisco, Napa / Sonoma, and Charleston, South Carolina.
I'm also into trying to find out what makes the world tick. I am a student of supply-side economics, the original field of classical economics devised in 1776 by Adam Smith. Jude Wanniski, who runs Polyconomics in Morristown, coined the term "Supply-Side" in response to the bogus demand-side economics (both Keynesianism and monetarism) that came into being in the 20th Century, the practice of which was ultimately responsible for much suffering, like the massive inflation of the 1970s, and the Asian depression of today.
Other past and present academic interests include computational neural networks, fuzzy logic, real-time, embedded, fault-tolerant avionics and weapons systems, and automatic control theory. I am a member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).
I am a voracious reader, and if you ever come to my house you will find lots of books. I read about 5-6 books at a time, mostly non-fiction (although I re-read Atlas Shrugged every now and again).
On the cultural side, I like red wine, traveling, going to museums (especially art, which rubbed off on me from my Aunt the fine art dealer), jazz, and going out to jazz clubs in the city (New York).
Anyway, that's me in a nutshell.
